📝 Overview

I moved to the Weber Slate 36" from the Pit Boss 2-Burner Griddle for one simple reason: I needed more surface space to get a full dinner cooked in one shot without doing multiple rounds. The Slate delivered that and then some — 756 square inches of rust-resistant carbon steel that has completely changed how we cook outdoors.

The four-burner design with per-burner ignition is excellent. Each burner has its own old-school Weber click ignition, which means you can fire up just the burners you need instead of lighting the whole surface every time. Combined with the digital temperature gauge, which is a genuine game changer, you actually know what's happening on your cooktop rather than guessing.

Weber's grease management system on the Slate is the biggest leap forward from anything I'd used before. The rear grease channel collects everything cleanly and directs it to a removable tray — a massive improvement over every other griddle I've cooked on. The under-shelf storage and the cabinet below the cooktop are incredibly practical. The three shelf levels mean food going out, condiments, and tools all have a dedicated place.

The Weber Works system integration on both side tables is a thoughtful touch. I added the Weber Works storage box and it's become a permanent part of the setup. My one gripe is that the tool hooks that came with the unit can only be mounted on the sides — and both of my sides are blocked by other accessories. A front-mounted hook option would solve this completely.

On the pricier side? Yes. But the 5-year warranty and the construction quality are both there to back it up. This griddle is built to last, and it shows in every cook.

🎯 Who It's For

The Weber Slate 36" is for the serious backyard cook who's ready to invest in equipment that will last. If you're cooking for a family regularly, hosting gatherings, or you've already caught the griddle bug and know you want the best — this is the one.

If you're new to griddle cooking, I'd still say go for it if the budget allows. The learning curve on a flat top is shorter than people think, and starting on a great piece of equipment makes the whole experience better. You will not outgrow this griddle.

🧰 Accessories I Use With It

🪤

Grill Daddy Pro Brush

We use this after every cook on the Slate. Steam action works perfectly on carbon steel without damaging the seasoning.

📦

Weber Works Storage Box

Added this to both side tables — one of the best additions to the setup. Keeps tools, spatulas, and seasoning bottles organized and within reach.

Weber Griddle Spatulas

Well-matched to the Slate's surface. The longer handles are appreciated when the griddle is running hot. Affiliate link coming soon.
